Molecular sieves have a great impact on catalytic science and technology. In the early 1960s, the invention of molecular sieve triggered a revolution in oil refining technology. The discovery of the shape selectivity of ZSM-5 molecular sieve in the 1970s led to the successful development of important new industrial processes of petroleum refining and petrochemical industry (ethylbenzene production, toluene disproportionation, heavy oil dewaxing, etc.). The emergence of TS-1 heteroatom molecular sieve with variable valence elements in the 1980s made the field of "oxidation catalysis" of molecular sieve very active. In recent years, the application of molecular sieve in "environmental catalysis" has also developed rapidly. The successful application of molecular sieves in industrial catalytic processes has stimulated the extensive research on the synthesis, modification, characterization and application of molecular sieves.
